Did you know that crystals can help to ease physical pain? I'm a Certified Crystal Healer and I do not believe in using Crystal Healing to replace conventional medicine, but I do believe that it helps fill in the gaps. It can even bring conventional medicine a step further which is why we're starting to see holistic practices meshed with traditional in some of our most reputable medical centers. Sometimes medications just aren't doing the trick to completely alleviate symptoms of pain and that's when I turn to crystals. Read on for information about stones to alleviate headaches, back pain, muscle spasms & cramps, arthritis, migraines, and nerve pain.
Amethyst - to treat headaches and bring in a sense of calmness. Lie down and relax. Try placing an Amethyst on your Third Eye Chakra which is just above and in between the eyebrows. You may also place it above the Crown Chakra which is on the top of your head, right in the center. Just place it on the surface that you are lying on over the head. See yourself inhaling in the beautiful violet Amethyst energy which brings calming healing energy. On the exhale visualize yourself releasing all tension and pain.
Rainbow Fluorite - to treat back pain. Lie on your stomach and relax. Try placing one Rainbow Fluorite in the middle of your back, right in the center of the pain. Rainbow Fluorite is great for the bones and teeth. It's also anti-inflamatory which covers any recent injuries. Additionally this crystal will aid in relieving pain. If you find that this treatment works well and you are someone who suffers from chronic back issues then I recommend your buying three additional stones so they can be placed in a square shape on your back. The square should generally encompass the area of pain. In Sacred Geometry the square represents the earth, strength, and vitality. Have someone place the stones on your back for you and lie with them until you intuitively feel it is time to stop the treatment.
Smoky Quartz - to treat muscle spasms and cramping. This crystal is great for calming muscles, whether it be spasms due to injury or cramping from menstruation. You could lie down and for a DIY traditional crystal treatment or take this little gem on the go. If you do have the time to relax then lay back and place the Smoky Quartz at your Root Chakra which is around the pubic bone. Allow the Smoky Quartz energy to sooth those spasms away. Taking it on the go, then place it in your pocket. Just beware that there aren't coins and such to bang into it and scratch it up. Be mindful that you are carrying medicine in your pocket throughout the day. Feel the grounding effects of the Smoky Quartz.
Apatite - to treat arthritic pain. Apatite is healing to the bones while it encourages new cells to form. It also aids in calcium absorption, a plus for those suffering from arthritis. This stones is healing to bones, cartilage, and motor skills. Apatite can be worn in a piece of jewelry, carried in the pocket as a tumbled stone, or used in a DIY healing treatment. If going the healing treatment route then lie down and place the stone at the Crown Chakra (over the top of the head).
Fulgerite - to treat migraines and nerve pain. Fulgerite is made when lightning strikes sand and it re-crystalizes changing it's vibration. I have found it to be extremely effective in treating both migraines and nerve pain. It's sort of like it goes in and resets the nervous system. To work with Fulgerite place it at either your 3rd eye or Crown Chakra. See which one you are intuitively drawn to place it on. Visualize the Universal Healing Light entering through your Crown Chakra as you inhale. It brings healing throughout the mind, body, and spirit. As you exhale feel any tension or anything that doesn't serve you going out with that breath.
Please tell us about your experiences using crystals for pain relief. We'd love to hear from you. Feel free to post a comment telling us more about how you relieve pain with crystals.
Happy Spring Equinox! What better time to start or renew a Mindfulness Practice. Read on for some helpful hints and feel free to make some of your own in the comments. I'd love to hear from you! - Liz
What is Mindfulness? The definition varies a little depending upon whom you ask. For some it is a meditation practice while for others it is a practice outside of meditation. When I meditatr my goal is to reach Samadhi which is a higher level of consciousness. For me mindfulness is something I do when beginning a meditation session. I'll make myself aware of the present moment through all of the senses before settling into my mantra. A mantra is a word or phrase silently repeated which opens the consciousness. I also practice mindfulness outside of meditation to bring myself to the present moment and the task at hand. Both Mindfulness and Meditation can be defined as awareness of the present moment. You keep an open acceptance and curiosity of what IS without trying to manipulate it, you're merely the watcher.
How does mindfulness help with meditation? Meditation is all about being in the present moment. Mindfulness is one way we can move into the present moment and begin a meditation. A great way to settle in is by hearing all of the sounds around you can move into it. First hear all the sounds near and far.. Then become aware of the sensations within your body, like how you feel sitting on the seat. Next notice the air against your skin and how it feels as you breath in and out. Focusing on the breath and how it feels is just another way of being present. People often get stressed because they believe that they aren’t allowed to think during meditation. Even the most experienced at meditation have thoughts creep in. After some time the spaces between the thoughts gets larger. Just allow thoughts to go and return to the mantra or watching the breath. Don’t get involved with thoughts. Don’t get so tied up in a thought that you have a million thoughts about that one thought, building them into larger stories. Return to the present, the breath.
Meditation is when the thinking mind ceases and that does happen. With steady practice gaps will begin to form between thoughts. Those gaps are meditation and the gaps increase over time. When thoughts arise in the background of your breathing, it is called mindful awareness. So generally we float between the two states. If stressed the thinking mind may become monotonous. If there has been a break from meditation practice for a few weeks the ego begins clinging again. You may notice yourself plagued with thoughts once again. Just return to mindful awareness and whatever your meditation practice is, rest assured, things will get better.
Mindfulness can be practiced anytime at work or home. Like meditation it is staying in the Now. Staying present requires letting go of thoughts regarding the past and the future. This allows for a lot less worry and anxiety. In mindful awareness you take things in through all of your senses. Practicing mindfulness while doing a task will have one noticing every minute detail. Every step becomes a task within itself. It brings greater pleasure to the simplest of things. The result is a much more joyous life.
Remember that everyone has good days and not so good days with meditation and mindfulness practices. Great pleasure can be obtained from both so it is worth steady practice,. The trick is to not try and manipulate the experience to make it into something lovely that you felt the last time. Meditation and mindfulness are all about letting go. When mindfully doing something the end product becomes so much more magnificent. It opens the creative capacities which is a wonderful tool for artists and anyone wishing to bring more creativity into their lives. It improves cognitive function, lowers blood pressure, and relieves depression and anxiety.

According to the Zodiac we all have a ruling element just like we have a ruling sign. These elements are Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. Each has specific characteristics as well as corresponding crystals and stones to aid us in connecting with them. The elements rotate throughout the zodiac chart. You may have noticed their energies as they pass throughout the year affecting each of us in different ways. When we are aware of these energetic shifts we are more in control of the effects they have on us. We can utilize the elements to our advantage when we are looking to accentuate or take on a trait they are in control of. We might even use them to downplay our negative attributes. So let’s go over the elements and their associated crystals and stones.
Earth: This element represents stability, abundance, and growth.
Corresponding stones include Petrified Wood, Coal, Malachite, Carnelian, Red Jasper, Emerald, Rainforest Jasper, Chrysocolla, Serpentine, Agate, and Peridot.
The energies of this element are balanced by the Air Element.
Air: This element represents new beginnings, change, and intellect.
Corresponding stones include Rainbow Fluorite, Celestite, Pumice, Azurite, Blue Apatite, Lepidolite, Turquoise, Blue Kyanite, Blue Sapphire, and Mica.
The energies of this element are balanced by the Earth Element.
Fire: This element represents vitality, creativity, and personal power.
Corresponding stones include Black Obsidian, Red Jasper, Amber, Rhodochrosite, Lava Rock, Fire Agate, Red Spinel, Citrine, Diamond, Heliodor, Obsidian, and Clear Quartz.
The energies of this element are balanced by the Water Element.
Water: This element represents intuition, the emotions, and love.
Corresponding stones include Aquamarine, Amethyst, Opal, Larimar, Pearl, Blue Lace Agate, Amazonite, Aquamarine, Moonstone, Selenite, and Blue Tourmaline.
The energies of this element are balanced by the Fire Element.
Each Zodiac Sign has a corresponding Element. They are as follows:
Our ruling element helps bring out the best aspects of our zodiac sign. Currently we are in Pisces season which falls under the Water Element. Pisces people tend to be creative, intuitive, devoted, and compassionate. Water Elemental crystals accentuate all of these aspects. Aquamarine and Opal help open creativity. Blue Tourmaline and Amethyst can bring out ones intuition. Moonstone and Selenite strengthen devotion. Amazonite and Blue Lace Agate will help you discover what you are compassionate about.
Each element also has a balancing element which tones down negative attributes of our zodiac sign. Carrying or keeping the right crystal in your environment can be exactly what’s needed. Each sign has it’s negative characteristics just as it has its positive ones. Going back to our Pisces example, we see that on the down side Pisces people can be lazy, escapist, and weak-willed. The Fire element balances Water and is all about vitality and personal power. Use Red Jasper for courage and Citrine for confidence. Clear Quartz and Amber are sure to add an extra kick to your mojo, combating any laziness. Black Obsidian and Diamond will keep you moving forward with your eye on the goal.
Choosing elemental crystals for yourself. Start out by getting one of your ruling elemental stones to bring out your best aspects. Next select an elemental crystal which balances that energy in order to downplay some of the negative traits. Finally select stones that fall under the two remaining elements. When choosing crystals go with whatever you are attracted to. Follow the advice I gave in “Color Therapy using Crystals” and “Wearing Crystals for Mind, Body, and Spirit”. Be sure to connect with the crystals when their corresponding element moves in or whenever you feel the need to bring on some of their qualities.
If you're into Crystals, Energy Work, Intuitive Reading, Art, and Meditation then ECMOmArts.com is for you. Take a look through my website and see what's new. Maybe you've never bothered going through the tabs up top or possibly it's been a while since you've explored. All of the information within has been edited to make the site more informative and easy to navigate. I've even added two tabs, "Intuitive Reading" and "Collage as a Meditative Practice". On the last version a minimal amount of information about these two categories sat underneath other tabs. The "Art" section has been extensively reworked to include photos and some information on current artwork which I've completed. In January I did a photo shoot with Robert Castagna Photography which has really added to the overall look of the site. Several of my student's works have also been added under the "Collage as a Meditative Practice" tab to give an idea of some of the artwork that has been created in that workshop.
I would love to get a little feedback from you. Please let me know what you think!
We move into the Pisces zodiac period on February 20th. How does Pisces effect each one of us while we are under its rule? In what ways does its energy push and pull us even if we fall under another zodiac sign? Pisces will hold meaning for each one of us just as the other signs have their specific purposes for us throughout the year by helping to guide and influence us on subtle level. People who fall under Pisces are highly intuitive and deeply connected to their spiritual sides so it’s a good time to tap into higher realms with Pisces energy coming in. You might also find yourself being more selfless and compassionate with the fish at the helm. Allow this sign to make you more accepting and able to adapt and see where that takes you. Allow your imagination and creativity to flourish, just beware of indecisiveness or using it as a place to escape. Pisces are suckers for romance and they know how to make their partner feel wanted. Maybe you could use this energy to enliven your love life.
The New Moon falls on the 26th of this month and it happens to coincide with an Annular Solar Eclipse. The New Moon is when Native Americans hold Manifestation Meditations with the assistance of the moon’s vibration. They do not manifest just any old thing, like a new car, but rather something that is inline with their life’s path. It could still be something very enjoyable, it just needs to align with one’s higher self. A meditation is performed in order to access Spirit, your guides, and your higher self to determine what is best to bring into your life. Then you go about the process of setting intentions and sending them out to the Universe. A crystal Grid is utilized by many and I as a Crystal Healer set up grids to my meditations. The energetic imprint of the crystals within the grid may be connected to the planets affecting us at the time, the zodiac, or manifesting itself. The center stone acts as a generator and it aids in sending our intentions out to the universe. I also use grid cloths as backgrounds which are imprinted with Sacred Geometry.
What is a New Moon and why do we manifest on it? A New Moon is just that, it’s the beginning of a New Moon period. It’s when the Sun and the moon both sit in the same zodiac sign. This makes the power of that zodiac sign much stronger and you may notice Pisces characteristics more strongly. The New Moon also represents creation. Think about it, it’s the merging of Sun and Moon energies. You could say that the moon represents the emotions and we need to throw a lot of emotion into what we are trying to manifest in order to manifest it. The sun is all about fire and that fire energy kindles our emotions so they can manifest on the earth plane.
What the heck is an Annular Solar Eclipse and what makes this time so powerful? This is when the sun and moon are in perfect line with the earth. The moon appears to be a bit smaller than the sun. The sun ends up looking like a ring of fire around the moon. A normal New Moon period according to Native American Tradition lasts for 9 days. There are the 4 days before the New Moon, the New Moon itself, and 4 days following. They feel this is the strongest period for manifesting because you have the help of Sun and Moon energies. When you have a Solar Eclipse it lengthens the time period all the ways until the next New Moon. Although the eclipse will not be visible in our area we can still take advantage of it, energetically speaking.

Don’t freak when I mention Retrograde because it’s not necessarily a bad thing. All planets go into it and it does have it’s positive aspects. Jupiter went into Retrograde earlier this month and it will be there until June. Jupiter is the planet of ideas and going retrograde is all about going introspective. So it’s a great time to analyze our visions and ideals. This is so beneficial when manifesting. Venus will be going into retrograde in the next few weeks which does not happen annually, only about every 18 months or so. It’s not only the time for new love, but finding the right love. The combo of Jupiter, Venus, and the Piscean New Moon energy are perfect for this. Maybe your next great love is what you’re ready to find. Be sure to connect and set a few intentions on the New Moon. Happy Manifesting!
Learn how to do Color Therapy the quick way utilizing crystals.
Crystals work with energy and light making them a more expedient way to receive color therapy versus merely surrounding yourself with color. Each hue has its own energetic frequency which gives it specific traits. Those traits are linked to the Chakra System. Crystals are available in a multitude of colors. They emit light and energy which sends the color’s vibration to the matching chakra for healing. The light energy makes it so that the stone is able to send it’s energy to a receiving source i.e humans. The Chakras are color based and respond well when various colors are placed within our environment. This touches on only one level of Crystal Healing.
What will be covered here
In this article I’m going to cover various colors and what their traits are. I’ll also give you a basic understanding of the 7 Major Chakras and the colors that are assigned to each. You can pick up a few stones or use what you already have at home. Most of us have a tendency to intuitively surround ourselves with the hues we require for healing and that includes intuitively purchasing the crystals and stones we are in need of.
Color has been scientifically proven to affect mind, mood, and personal well being. If you look at the psychology behind each color along with the attributes assigned to the chakra which correlates with that color you’ll see a connection between the two. By having an understanding of the effects that color has, you are better able to select stones for specific healing practices. Following I will list the attributes assigned for each color. Pay mind to the colors you are most attracted to and those which you like the least.
RED: Love, passion, energy, vitality, enthusiasm, motivation, courage, strength, creativity
ORANGE: Strength, authority, attraction, success, emotional release, abundance, creativity
YELLOW: Clairvoyance, learning, intellect, personal power, strength, awakening
GREEN: Meditation, fertility, wealth and prosperity, luck, emotional healing, calming, balance, inner-peace
BLUE: Serenity, tranquility, forgiveness, communication, self expression, spirituality
INDIGO: Intuition, psychic awareness, meditation, channeling
VIOLET/PURPLE: Spiritual healing, alignment, spirituality, wisdom, charity, generosity, gratitude
WHITE: Protection, peace, purification, truth, higher consciousness, clarity
PINK: Emotional healing, love, friendship, harmony, affection, nurturing, comfort, self love, acceptance
TEAL: Emotional healing, emotional protection, peace
BROWN: peace, calming
BLACK: grounding, protection
What exact type of crystal you use doesn't really matter. Go with what you are drawn to, this is your intuition guiding you. It's making one stone pop out over another. If you keep the information from above in mind regarding each color then it gives you a basic idea of what the crystal you chose is about. It will hold those particular energies and as well as those inherent in the crystal type.
There are 7 Major Chakras and hundreds of minor ones. The illustration shown below gives a sense of the location of the Chakras which can be worked with very effectively for color therapy. Keep in mind that each chakra accepts more colors than just the one shown in the illustration. I will list them when we talk about each chakra individually.
When we talk about the chakras we always start at the bottom and work our way up to the top so that’s where we’ll begin. The Root Chakra is in charge of vitality, strength, will, manifesting, courage, survival, grounding, sexual energy, circulation, and cell repair.. Black brown and red crystals are best for this chakra.
The Sacral Chakra is the center of assimilation, accepting new beginnings, letting go, connecting with feelings, endurance, productivity, and reproduction. This is one of the creativity centers, where an idea manifests, and is fueled by the emotions. Orange, Peach, and Yellow stones work well here.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is the center of confidence, personal, power stimulation, and inventiveness. Yellow stones and yellow-green stones are best for this area.
The Heart Chakra is the center of personal growth, balance, compassion, and love. Pink and green stones are fantastic for this chakra.
The Throat Chakra is the center for communication, creativity, peace, the metabolism, and the nervous system. The throat is where it is where creativity is expressed. Blue stones are perfect for this spot.
The Third Eye Chakra is the center of intuition, expansion, psychic awareness, spirituality, and the brain. Indigo and violet crystals work well here.
The Crown Chakra is the center of transformation, trust, and Oneness. Clear, white, gold, and violet stones are great for this chakra.
There a number of ways you may choose to work with crystals and stones. You may place the crystal or stone directly on the chakra while lying down, keep it in your pocket, hold it in your hand, or place it in you environment. You are allowed to work with more than one stone at a time if you wish. Always listen to your inner guide! Be sure to clean the stones of unwanted energy afterwards by bathing them in moonlight for several hours.
If you have any questions then feel free to ask them in the comments.
